Dear OpenInvest Community,

We’re proud and excited to announce the closing of a new round of funding – a $10.4M Series A led by QED Investors, followed by SYSTEMIQ and Yard Ventures, and with renewed support from our existing investor community including Andreessen Horowitz, Abstract Ventures, Wireframe Ventures, and Y Combinator.

When we first launched in 2016, OpenInvest had only built the foundations of a whole new way of investing. Fortunately, our passionate community of investors encouraged and inspired us to grow in new ways, helping us build intelligent features, partnerships, and campaigns. Since then, we’ve focused on bringing our mission to fruition: mainstreaming values-informed investing.

2017 saw us growing and evolving after Andreessen Horowitz led our $3.2M seed round. The next step was releasing the OpenInvest app on iOS, bringing a faster, more user-friendly and better-looking flow to users. Shortly after we expanded to Android, streamlining the user experience and landing us a feature in the Google Play Store.

In the meantime, we began to broaden our approach. We were hearing from all kinds of folks – pension fund administrators, financial advisors, foundations, banks and more – that OpenInvest could be a solution for their clients. We explored these opportunities and found that serving these institutions and advisors could help create the kind of social and environmental impact we were seeing with our retail clients on a greater scale and at an international level. We couldn’t be prouder to bring Australian pension investors, Bay Area financial advisors and asset managers, and East Coast criminal justice reformers all together on the same platform. And that’s just the beginning.

Now in 2018, our family has grown to include a full developer team working from finance to front end, client advocates, and ESG and data experts (and even some new spouses and babies)! We’ve also welcomed clients, assets and partners, all of which makes us more excited for the whole new chapter about to unfold.

We would like to thank you – our extended OpenInvest family – for your support, enthusiasm, and commitment to our shared mission to make capital a tool for change..
